[...] 4.  Match the coupons you have to the sales to increase your savings.  Most coupons are available in the Sunday paper and online.  There are tons of free blogs out there that have grocery store coupons match-ups every week for stores all over the country.  Here are a few of my favorites:  Surviving the Stores, The Thrifty Mama, Couponing 101, and Saving Cents With Sense. Did my first deliberate CVS trip with coupons in hand. Spent $12 oop on $74 worth of stuff (if all sale, clearance, coupons, and extra bucks were not available) WOW! So much fun!! Thanks for your help.

Hi Melissa! I am just getting my feet wet with couponing and had my first (mostly) successful trip this morning. I saved $50 off $100, but that included some non-couponed, necessary things, so I feel pretty good about my first haul! :) However, even though I utilized an Arizona-based matchup site, there were several things I expected to be on sale but weren’t. Are you located in Tucson and are your matchups based on local ads? Thanks so much for your help and all your hard work!!

  • http://savingcentswithsense.net Melissa

Thanks, Angela. I’m in Phoenix – and yes my match-ups are based on local ads. Prices should be the same in Phoenix and Tucson (and many other parts of the country, too).

Hi there I just started to look at coupons and I am still confused on how it works. Can you please help me. Say, I have a coupon for 50 cents off the product but the regular price is 4.99 is that saying I only get 50 cents off the price. I would like to know where to go and save more off the product. I see people paying nothing and I would love to know how. Thank you for your time.

  • http://savingcentswithsense.net Melissa

Hi Tonya, the best place to start is Where to Begin. That can help you know how to start saving with coupons. There are some items that you can get for free, but in reality, you should aim to save 50-60% off your grocery bill. So, a product that is $4.99 isn’t going to be free with a $.50 coupon. You also might want to check to see if you have stores that double coupons by you – that can help maximize your savings, too.

You also might want to read some of the Coupon Resources posts I have, too.

Hi. I swear somwhere on here there was a page that listed each grocery store’s coupon policy…. Am I losing my mind? I am looking for the Fry’s & Walgreens coupon policies, specifically regarding IP coupons. Thanks. (& Thank you for your awesome site!)

    Hi Melissa,
I was just wondering where you are located, I have noticed when I go to other blogs and try to shop for those deals they are incorrect for my area.
I live in So cal. If you could let me know that would be great! Love how easy it is to navigate your website.

HI Tiffanie – Thank you and I’m glad you are here! :) I’ll located in Phoenix, AZ.
