Hi, I’m Melissa Hurst, the mom behind Saving Cents with Sense™ , a site dedicated to helping families find quality products, HOT deals, store savings, and money saving tips.

I have been married to my best friend, Ben, for ten years and we have three beautiful children, ages 1 to 7 years. I’m a teacher by heart and have a strong passion for others, which is why I have also worked in higher education for over 11 years.

Saving Cents with Sense™ began in January 2009 because I knew how challenging it could be to stretch your budget and still provide quality products to your family that you could be proud of.  After being laid off in October 2007, I had to find ways to save, which is why I started using Coupons. I immediately realized that we could cut our grocery bill in half, and it didn’t have to be rocket science. I also started teaching Arizona Coupon Classes to help people learn how to maximize their savings.

Over the past few years, not only have I helped people find store coupon match-ups, online deals, restaurant deals, and other ways to stretch their budget, but I have also worked with wonderful brands to help build product awareness through social media. Some of these brands include Toyota, Procter & Gamble (P&G), Safeway, Britax, TJ Maxx, Summer Infant, Fry’s Food Stores, Ross, St. Mary’s Food Bank and many more.  I have also been featured on several media outlets.

Hello there! I’m Ben and the second half of Saving Cents with Sense™, I was a big supporter of my wife starting the site back in 2009 and have continued to give my support through learning SEO, graphic design, and accounting practices.

When I’m not working, I am volunteering at my son’s school, coaching Little League, teaching children’s Bible Study, BBQing, or working on my photography skills. And don’t be surprised if you catch me with coupons since I enjoy finding a good deal, too.

Hi.  I’m Nicole, content writer for Saving Cents with Sense™, blogger, full time student and most importantly, mom to four wonderful children ages, three to ten.

Becoming a mother is really what taught me how to save, the necessity growing as my family grew and I’ve learned successfully how to save without sacrificing which is why I’m excited to be part of Melissa’s team.

Finding bargains for the whole family is crucial in today’s economy but, honestly, the woman in me finds the most thrill in snagging great deals on the “fun stuff”.  Too often, mother’s put their fashion sense on the back burner as they frantically feed their families thus the stereotype of the wife in sweatpants.

I believe moms can embrace their love of fashion and meet their family’s needs without breaking the bank which is why we’ve created Nic’s Picks, where I combine that saving sense with fashion sense.
