Today is my birthday, so what a better way to enjoy it than to relax and refresh – without spending a fortune! But you don’t need it to be your birthday to need some quality “me-time.”

Life can be stressful, and before you know it you can find yourself feeling worn down and running on empty. Sure, you can treat yourself to a massage or to a spa treatment in order to relax and unwind, but these cost money and lots of it! So what is the solution? Instead, why not treat yourself to some fun, refreshing, and frugal ways to relax and unwind. It is much easier than you may think. Take a look below at how you can get started relaxing and unwinding for less.

1. Make your own spa mask.
Make your own luxury spa mask in just seconds and for just pennies. Mix 1/2 cup of sugar with 1/2 cup of water, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon of honey, and 1 mashed avocado. Mix well until you have a smooth mixture. Apply to your skin massaging gently and rinse with warm water. Your skin will just glow!

2. Take a nature walk.
Just getting out and enjoying the fresh air is a great way to relax and unwind. Exercise will always give you a boost of energy and help you feel stress-free. So get out and take in a brisk walk by yourself or with a loved one.

3. Sip some tea.
Studies have found that sipping warm beverages can help lower your blood pressure and help you to relax. So enjoy your favorite tea, decaffeinated is best, with someone special or just by yourself.

4. Try some crafting.

Lavender Eye Pillow

Supplies Needed:
Dried lavender or lavender oil
Dried Rice
Scrap fabric
Sewing machine or needle and thread

1. Cut two identical pieces of scrap fabric measuring approx. 6 inches by 3 inches in size.
2. Place the pieces on top of each other and stitch together, leaving one inch open for stuffing.
3. Pour your rice in the opening and add a few drops of lavender oil or dried lavender as well.
4. Stitch the remaining opening closed tightly.
5. Place the eye pillow in the microwave for 30 seconds to heat up the rice and release the aroma. Place over your eyes as needed when you need to relax and unwind.
