One of the main reasons I made the decisions to try Young Living essential oils is because of their proprietary oil blend, Thieves, which helps support a healthy immune system to not get sick. I find the story behind Thieves essential oil blend so interesting. You can read more about Thieves here.

Normally when I get a cold, it lasts for at least a week (if not more) and that is with taking extra vitamins, supplements and cold medicine. I just don’t have time for that nonsense – and I imagine you can relate!

How I Supported My Immune System

Day 1
On the first day that I started to feel a cold coming on, my throat was scratchy and I felt tired. I knew that it would progress to a stuffy nose, etc by the next day. I immediately made my Thieves Tea. Before going to bed I drank 2 cups of this Thieves Tea (recipe below):

Support Your Immune System Quickly and Naturally
  • 1 cup hot water or your favorite organic tea
  • 1 drop Thieves essential oil blend
  • 2-3 drops therapeutic-grade Lemon essential oil
  • 1 drop therapeutic-grade Frankincense essential oil
  • 1 drop therapeutic-grade Peppermint essential oil
  • Raw Honey - to taste
  1. Mix well.
  2. Drink as often as needed.

I also put 8 drops of Thieves in my diffuser and turned it on that night in my room.

Day 2:
Normally, the second day after having a sore throat, I will wake up with a sinus headache, unable to breathe, and feeling tired. However, I woke up actually feeling almost the same way – just a scratchy throat. I did feel tired and knew my body was working to fight the cold away.

That morning I made my Thieves Tea. I drank the tea about 4 times on Day 2. At night I decided to diffuse Thieves and Peppermint essential oil in case my sinuses started to act up. I felt sinus pressure building and expected a long night ahead of me.

Day 3:
I woke up feeling refreshed (I had slept through the night with no issue!) and my throat wasn’t sore any more. There was no sinus pressure, headache, scratchy throat, or any symptoms of a cold left!

I am so amazed at how quickly this worked to fight off a cold! I highly recommend making yourself some Thieves Tea the next time you start to feel under the weather.

A few things I want to mention here:

  • I don’t recommend that you ingest any essential oils but Young Living. They offer therapeutic grade essential oils that do not have any added chemicals.
  • Thieves essential oil blend is only sold by Young Living (and is one of the most popular oil blends)
  • All of the essential oils in this Thieves Tea recipe are available in the  Premium Starter Kit.

I’m finding new uses for them every day, like:

Relieving Sore Muscles

Moisturizing Skin

DIY All Natural Mosquito Spray
