Why You Won’t Find Store Match Ups Anymore

It has been 5 years since I started Saving Cents With Sense and it has been such a fun journey! When I first began the blog, it was because of my own life circumstances. It was out of necessity. Having been laid off and losing half our income, my goal was how to figure out how to stretch our budget. That is how I started couponing.

But it wasn’t long before I realized that many of the coupon blogs I followed back then, although very informative, did not help me shop stores in Arizona. We have different grocery stores, different coupon policies, and even lower prices than most of the country. I couldn’t find any sites to help me with couponing in AZ (that I didn’t have to pay for) – by the way, I don’t recommend you ever pay for match ups. So, I did the only thing I could think of – I started my own blog.

Of course, Saving Cents With Sense grew more than I ever imagined and soon I had many national readers, as well as fellow Arizonians looking to save. It was more than a resource for just me – it became a resource for thousands of you. I added more store coupon match ups to try to help the most people possible. And over the years, we’ve seen many changes here on the site with design changes, layout adjustments, different content writers, guest posts, and even in-person coupon classes. I’ve been featured on the news with my tips, written for magazines and other online sites and even have a column in a local newspaper. Saving Cents With Sense has taken me places I never dreamed of (most recently to Santa Barbara!).

And my life has changed quite a bit too. Within several months of starting the site, I got my dream job – to teach college classes – but I quickly realized that dreams change with life circumstances. My son had many health concerns when he was younger and we realized that he needed speech therapy. For those of you that have walked the path of different therapies, you know how demanding a schedule that can be. We were also blessed with our daughter and had fun celebrating with all of you in the baby shower bash. The biggest change is one that I haven’t openly discussed here – a year ago I headed back to school with the goal of becoming a speech therapist myself. It is still a long road ahead of me, but I am so honored, blessed, and excited to be on this path, one that I know I was destined to be a part of.  But I will be honest and say, that running the site, being back in school, and being a mom to 3, is a challenge.

What About Store Match Ups?

So, that brings us back to the coupon match ups. I’ve contemplated this for a while before making the decision to stop them. However, it is not just because I’m strapped on time and something has to give…

I know that my role is to help teach, and one role of this site is to help you learn how to save in all areas of your life so you enjoy what you want. By teaching you how to save at the store, you are able to design your own shopping lists, use the coupons you want, and save where you need to. Making your own coupon match ups make sense because they allow you to save on what you want – not look through an entire list that someone else has put together for you. I’ve made it easy for you by giving you 3 Easy Steps to Make Your Own Match Ups.

Make Your Own Coupon Match UpsPlus, the Coupon Database is still at your disposal so you can find the coupons you want right away.

What You Will Still Find Here at Saving Cents With Sense:

The goal is still to bring you ways to save in areas you need so you can spend on what you want. So you will still find online deals and printable coupons that I think you will enjoy. But I realize my voice has been missing for some time – so there are some things I plan to bring back here, like

Thank you for reading, and being a part of my journey. I hope you will enjoy some of the changes here and that this will still be a place for you to come on your journey.

I think it’s a natural progression and helping someone LEARN instead of just giving them the answers is always better. :)

I agree, coupons blogs are great but I have never heard of so many of these stores that they are matching these deals up with!

  • http://www.savingcentswithsense.net/ Melissa Hurst

That is such a great point, Nicole! There are so many different stores around the country. The best way for people to save is to find out what works for them specifically. I’d rather give you good tips on how to use coupons and save at the store, then focus my time on specific stores. Hopefully that will help more people. :)
