Disclosure: I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Reebok. I received a Famous Footwear gift card to purchase a pair of Reebok shoes to facilitate my review and to thank me for participating.
Two years ago I was training to run in my first 5K – and then I hurt my knee. It hurt so bad that it was painful to even walk. Fast forward to now – it has been a while since I have gone for a run and my body is not use to that, but I realized that even though I had a set goal, I wasn’t letting my body get use to the idea. This time I plan to take it easy with baby steps and that means that I’m fine with walking each day until I’m ready.
Finding the Right Shoes:
I’ve shopped Famous Footwear many times since they have a nice selection of kids’ shoes and there are usually some good coupons to help me save (there is a Buy 1 Get 1 1/2 off coupon available right now). I noticed that there was a great selection of Reebok shoes on the Famous Footwear website, but when I started calling stores in town, many did not carry more than 1 or 2 styles in store (and some didn’t have any running shoes). Eventually, I found a store that had a few styles, including the one I thought I wanted from reading about it online.
I purchased the Reebok Women’s Zig Kick and was pleasantly surprised at how lightweight the shoes were. I also really liked the cushioning, and the breathable mesh that is so important to keep your feet from becoming too hot! Because of the great deals available and because my husband really needed a new pair of athletic shoes, I was able to get him a pair of shoes as well. He works out daily and said that his favorite feature is how breathable these shoes are, plus they seem very durable so they will last.
This wasn’t the first time I’ve had Reeboks, although it has been quite a while, so I was happy to find that they were true-to-fit and I didn’t need to break them in. I was able to wear them all day the first day as I took the kids to school, went to the grocery store, ran other errands, picked the kids up, and got a walk in, too. I’m looking forward to training more in these shoes and enjoying that this back to school season, I was able to get everything the kids needed, as well as something special for me, too.
