imageWe love Veggie Tales in my house – actually I have been a fan for years (long before having kids!) and so I was excited to watch the newest movie The Penniless Princess, now available on DVD. True to Veggie Tales form, this movie offers fun characters, upbeat songs, and a perfect lesson into God’s love.

About The Penniless Princess:

Sweet Sara Crewe has everything a little girl could want – a loving family, lots of friends, and a closet full of frilly dresses!  But when life takes a turn and Sara goes from riches to rags, will she realize that her true worth lies not in what she has, but what she has in her heart?  Find out in this inspiring new story from VeggieTales that reminds kids who they are in God’s eyes.

All three of my kiddos enjoyed the movie – even my boys – the title might have “Princess” in it, but this is truly a story for all. My baby girl loved the music and I doubt she understood much of the story, but her brothers enjoyed “recapping” it for her. They all have watched it several times already – and because it has such a good message, I enjoy watching it over and over again with them!

We start preparing for school all summer by reading. Our 7 year old loves to read but our soon to be Senior in HS does not but is a good sport. Then about a week before school we start practice mode for school. School bedtimes begin and school awake times. That way they are tired during the week before school and more accustomed to the schedule when school does arrive.

  • Rachel

My child isn’t in school yet. I still have a few years till that.

  • Joy person

Plenty of sleep, breakfast, encouraging words and a special lunch with a note inside :)

  • We get all our school supply shopping done early so we can spend the last week relaxing and having fun. I let each child pick a special activity to do the last week of vacation. I’m never really ready for them to go back though! I love my kids.
