I am very excited about this deal because in our house hold we only eat grass-fed beef and it is hard to find sales for this.  Tomorrow (9/2) all U.S. Whole Foods Market Stores are offering Ground Grass-Fed Beef for only $4.99/lb.  There is a 10 lb Limit per person.

Tips from Whole Foods butchers include:

  • Don’t cook grass-fed beef cold; it is best when removed from the refrigerator 15 minutes or so prior to cooking.
  • When cooking on the grill, let the flames burn down more than is recommended for other meat. Also, it doesn’t need as much cooking time.
  • When cooking in the oven, lower the oven’s cooking temperature by about 25°F, and the cooking time will stay about the same.
  • Always use tongs, never a fork, to turn your beef; don’t press or flatten during cooking in order to retain precious juices.

These are a couple of Whole Foods favorite grass-fed beef recipes:

Hi, how much would you recommend stocking up on? I know it’s a 10lb limit but my husband could come with me and buy another 10lbs. I’m still trying to build up my stock pile and I don’t want to over do it but I also don’t want to under do it. We eat red meat about once or twice a week.
