For those are of you that are in Arizona, you’ll want to know that Fry’s is rolling out a new Milk Freshness Campaign, starting tomorrow, 4/27/11.
What does this campaign entail?
Basically it means that we can expect fresher milk, that lasts longer.
Why the need?
“There’s nothing more frustrating to customers than to bring home a product with a short shelf life,” says Ann Reed, Vice President of Merchandising at Fry’s Food Stores. “We didn’t want customers to be concerned that their milk wouldn’t last in between their shopping trips, so we put together a team to help address any obstacles to delivering the freshest milk possible.”
Did you know that Fry’s actually brings in milk from local dairy farms and uses their own manufacturing plants? We took our boys to several dairy farm tours last year and that was one of the nice surprises that I learned. When you buy milk from Fry’s – you are actually supporting local farms. (And if you haven’t visited a dairy farm – I highly recommend it!)
Items We Can Expect With the New Campaign:
• Making sure stores have the freshest inventory at all times.
• Rotating milk properly. Rotating milk from the top and bottom shelves into the selling zone – the area closest to the milk case handle and within our customers’ reach – reduces markdowns.
• Marking down milk with nine days of freshness remaining. Milk with fewer than nine days of freshness remaining on the code should be donated to local food banks.
I’m glad to hear that Fry’s is actively working with local farms, and providing the freshest milk possible, especially since so many families purchase milk on a regular basis. So, what do you think about this new campaign? Will you buy more of your milk from Fry’s? Why or why not?
