With Christmas right around the corner, it is very easy to end up spending way more than you planned. And who wants to start the New Year being even more in debt?
With just a few simple tips, you can end up having a wonderful Christmas season, without the guilt of busting your wallet.
Tip #1:
The 1st Tip to Save This Christmas Season is to sit down, plan your spending budget, and stick to it. Yes, that sounds simple enough, but just like shopping at the grocery store, if you don’t have a budget, it is easy to spend way more than you should.
When you know how much you can spend this holiday season without going out of your budget, then you can make a list of items that you plan to purchase. Ask yourself:
- What do I truly need to buy?
- What can I reuse from last year?
- What items are optional?
- What items can be replaced with less expensive alternatives?
- Where can I find the best sales?
Once you have your list of items you know that you want to purchase, you can start to compare prices at different stores so that you are getting the lowest price (and never pay full price!). When you have a list and stick to it, you’ll be able to stay away from impulse buying, which can usually lead to spending more than originally wanted.
Do you make a holiday budget? How do you help stay accountable to that budget?
