Although I like shopping at the grocery store (and finding a great deal!), I know there are times when it just becomes too difficult to get to the store. Life can get pretty hectic with work, school, kids, etc.- and having a little help can really make a difference.
That is why I was excited to try Safeway’s Home Grocery Delivery program. The program is simple, you shop online either by aisle, shopping history, or an express list (enter the name of the product you are looking for and Safeway finds the best match). You also get Club Card savings when you shop online, so you’ll get maximum savings on Safeway sales. There is also an online savings section, to save on items not on sale in store.
Of course, the challenge is that you can’t use hard copy coupons, so if you are planning a transaction with those, you may not want to use the Delivery Service. However, you can load ecoupons onto your club card to help you save more, too, which is always a plus!
I liked the fact that I could order organic, milk, and meat products that may not have coupons anyhow, plus, it is nice to be able to do your grocery shopping in the convenience of your home.
Although I don’t think I would use the Home Delivery Service regularly, I can definitely see benefits for people who are very busy and can’t get to the store, or if a trip to the store is too difficult.
A few items to note:
- You’ll need a credit card to order online. Safeway does not accept Safeway Gift Cards.
- You need at least $50 in your cart before you can schedule a delivery service.
- Delivery fees range from $6.95 to $12.95 (although your first delivery is FREE).
- You need to be home when your groceries are delivered, but you can choose a time range for the delivery.
