Does it work with a regular dispenser or only with the foam dispensers?

Great question, Amy. I have only used the foam dispensers- I think the regular dispensers won’t create the “foaming action”.

I’ve had the best results with reusing a foaming soap container. The other way the soap is just watery & slimy. I also put the water in the container first before adding the soap – you get more mixture & less bubbles in the container.

I’d say use your least favorite shampoo or body wash rather than your most favorite soap. Between this, and using conditioner as shaving cream, you can use up products that were cheap, but didn’t work well for their intended purpose. We’re almost done with the Vitamin shampoo I hated. Pearly shampoos can leave a bit of a white residue in the dispenser, but that rinses out easily enough.

I did this yesterday! It definitely works better in the foaming soap dispenser. If only I’d put the water in first…

This tip came right in the nick of time today when my husband announced that we were out of hand soap! I rescued the foaming soap bottle out of the bathroom trash can( it was on top) & refilled the bottle using your recipe! Thanks so much!!! Great tip & it will certainly save us some $ :)

I have tried this successfully for years and found that it works very well. I also rinse out empty shampoo, dish soap, conditioner and bodywash bottles and use the rinse water instead of tap water. Those leftover slivers of soap bars get put in there too. Cuts down on how much liquid soap is required.
Before refilling, the dispensers gets sent through the washer to reduce soap scum build-up.
And of course, all that dry Arizona air concentrates any rinse water if the bottle is allowed to sit on the patio awhile :)

Hi, I have been doing this as well for a very long time. Actually I use regular softsoap(or offbrand) and even add some of my scented bath and Body hand soap to make it smell really good. 3/4 water and 1/4 soap. Great money saver. I save all my foam soap bottles from bath and body.
