IMG_6827 Kids are out of school, BBQs are starting up, the pool is almost warm – yes, Summer is Here! But can you do with your kids this summer without breaking your budget? There are several great FREE and Cheap ideas…

Join a Reading Program for FREE Stuff:

Borders Summer Reading program: Get a FREE Book after reading 10 in the Double-Dog Dare program.

Half Price Books Summer Reading program: Get a $3 shopping card for each week that kids read at least 15 minutes a day (through July 31)

Chuck E. Cheese Reading Rewards Calendar: Get 10 FREE tokens after you fill out the calendar.

FREE & Cheap Movies:

FREE Family Film Festival: Select theatres will be showing free movies at 10am on Tuesday and Wednesdays. More than 35 states are participating, so check to see if a theatre near you is offering a free movie.

Harkin’s Summer Movie Fun: 10 kids movies in 10 weeks for only $7, or $2 each. Days and times may vary by location

AMC Summer Movie Camp: $1 movies every Tuesday at 10am

CineMark’s Summer Movie Clubhouse. Watch 10 movies for only $5 or $1 per show. All movies play in the morning, days vary by theatre, and are rated G or PG

FREE Events:

Free Bowling with Bowling centers around the country are offering 2 free games of bowling for kids every day this summer

Bank of America’s Museums on Us program: The first weekend each month, various museums offer FREE admission with your Bank of America card.

Target FREE Events. Target is sponsoring family fun events in over 120 different museums across the country. Even if there is not a museum by you, you’ll want to check out the locations and events if you plan to travel this summer. You may find a free event on your vacation.

Home Depot, Lowe’s, Michael’s and Lakeshore Learning Center all offer FREE do-it-yourself classes for kids (all year round).

Bass Pro Shops: FREE Crafts, Activities, Photos, and More (through 7/11/10)
