I think I am the most surprised at how well our onions look- I just can’t wait to taste them. The hard part of course is that I can’t see under the ground to see how they are growing, but above ground, they are getting taller and thicker. Why am I surprised? Well, again, I just didn’t realize how well things grow here in AZ.
The cilantro also started to turn on me- I wasn’t sure why until I forgot to water one day (yes, that does happen). In one day it perked up and had new growth! My analysis = I was watering it too much. I was used to basil, which really likes to get a lot of water, plus I have it in the same area with strawberries, which also need a lot of water. Now, I’m just careful when I’m watering to only give it a fraction of the water the other plants get and it is thriving.
That is one thing that I love about gardening- it is a puzzle on what will work and what doesn’t. Stay tuned- I’m planning to give another update this week on my (HUGE) zucchini…
