Congratulations to winner #36: Anita! (Winner picked with Random.org)

Did you know that this April 22 is the 40th anniversary of Earth Day? In Honor of Earth Day, Hanes has teamed up with the Arbor Day Foundation to plant trees. When you buy 3 Hanes products now through May 15, 2010, the Arbor Day Foundation will plan a tree (up to 20,000!).

“The need for more trees in our nation’s forests is great, and we are thrilled to be working with Hanes to plant trees in the Hiawatha National Forest. The trees will help clean the water and provide habitat for wildlife. By involving its customers in this important tree-planting initiative, Hanes is a great example of a company that is helping to make a positive impact on the environment by planting trees.” – John Rosenow, Founder of Arbor Day Foundation

imagePlus, you can get a FREE Earth Day t-shirt when you submit the mail in form with your receipt and original UPC codes. These t-shirts are made from eco-friendly materials and without the use of bleach or dye.

Thanks to Hanes, I was able to try one of these shirts. It was just as comfortable as Hanes always is, but I was even more excited about the eco-friendly materials used to make it.

How would you like to win one of these new Earth Day t-shirts from Hanes?

WIN IT:

We have just started this year a composting bin that our city provides upon request. They are from old city trash cans, so we are recycling while we compost. My kids love it as well.

  • Vickie JOnes

I have tried really hard to cut out the use of ziplock style bags in our house we use small containers, etc instead, it’s harder than you think

  • Michelle W.

We recycle, bring our own shopping bags, use CFL bulbs (recycle them if they do burn out), walk the kids to school, try to buy products in recyclable containers, stopped using ziploc bags like Vickie, and so many more things. Even doing just one of them helps!

We use less water by the rule, ” When it’s yellow let it mellow, when it’s brown flush it down”. We warm up our water only by having a gallon jug to catch the cold water, so when the water is the desired temperture the water that would have gone down the drain can be used to water plants, rinse a milk glass or put the water in the animals water bowls. We use cloth bags instead of plastic at all stores we shop and always recycle all that we can at curb side service. Plus we give all our gently used goods to ARC or KIDS or Parker Task Force.
