I’ve been hearing reports of all the abandoned animals lately and it just breaks my heart. Shelters are getting overfilled and unfortunately, animals are just euthanized to make room for the overabundance.
If you are thinking of getting a new pet, please consider looking at your local shelters and/or Humane Society to give those pets a good home. If you do end up adopting, there are a couple places to get some free food, to help with the expense:
Pedigree. Get a FREE month’s worth of food for dogs (valid through 12/31/2009)
Country Pet Naturals. Get 4 weeks of food coupons for your dog or cat (after purchase)
Thanks, Thrifty Mama!

Our former vet used to give away free food when we took a puppy in for the 1st visit, too, from Purina Pro Plan. Cats, too, actually. I miss that vet! Our local Kmart was taking bags of free food for our local shelter today. Definitely worth $10 to donate a bag of food…I just hope nobody removes it from the cart. It wasn’t done in a very well-thought manner but the kindness was good.
