I started with a binder similar to this and LOVED it. Lately, though, it’s gotten heavy and I’m having trouble wagging it. I also noticed that it was too small for our Wal*Mart’s buggies. I had a bit of trouble with others with it slipping down. I am trying a Creative Memories sticker binder I’d purchased for scrapbooking off ebay. It was in the $10 range as well, but has a lot of pockets for things, a hand handle, and a shoulder strap. I tried it today at RiteAid…a bit bulkier than I would have liked, but it laid all the way across the front of the buggy, and had pockets big enough for my wallet, phone, and keys without the need for my purse. Always pros and cons, but I am liking it. I just don’t like looking so conspicuous while shopping! Oh well! I seem to always need to reference something in it, so it’s worth it!

I wanted something that would fit in my purse, so I got a $1 photobook from the dollar store, then I labeled recipe cards with categories similar to yours. On the recipe cards, I wrote what coupons I had & the date the expired, then when I use them I can mark or print another to replace it. When the recipe cards get messy, just use the otherside or replace. As a beginner this didn’t take long to set up, maybe an hour.

This is such a GREAT IDEA! I used to be a scrapbooker and I have a binder with all of these great plastic organizers for stickers…I’m so going to convert it into my new coupon organizer! I can’t believe I stumbled upon this awesome idea! I actually have 3 organizers that are popping at their seams right now so this will be great to be able to see them all finally! Thanks!

I have a binder like this and for the life of me can’t get myself to actually put coupons in there. it gets me all anxious LOL!

I am new to the coupon world, but started through CouponSense. The reason I liked it so much is the fact that I don’t have to cut any of the coupons until I go grocery shopping, and then I know exactly where the sales are and what coupon will match up with different items. Have you ever used CouponSense or heard about it? This reduces the workload by at least 80% because they put all the store ads in a data base and allow you to search coupons, know when they expire, etc.

April, I can also see the benefit to organizing your coupons by alphabet! It would also help when I’m shopping with my hubby and he wants to see if I have a coupon for something!

Great example of how coupon organization is as unique as we are! It is great to hear of all these different ways and figure out what works best for us.

I also use a binder similar to this one, but I alphabetize my coupons by product. That way when I’m in the store, I can go right to the item such as McCormick or Capri Sun. There are so many different categories, I figured that there were just as many letters in the alphabet, so I find that this type of filing works better for me, besides some of the coupons are for multiple types of products, such as body wash and/or deodorant or shampoo.

Your method is definitely a lot better than mine. I’ve been using an accordion file and it isn’t exactly the highest quality. I’ve only had it for a month or two and it already fell apart from having too many coupons stuffed in it.

This is what I am in the process of creating–although it’s taking forever since I also have a lot of coupons and I’d gotten quite behind in cutting them! Good idea to get the zippered binder b/c I’m already noticing it’s easy for them to fall out!! I’ll need to switch to that! It does seem like it will make the time in the store much faster!

I have a binder very similar to yours–the only thing I don’t like about it is the bulk–I carry a big purse,too and sometimes when I’m walking into a store I feel like it looks like I’m moving in! The savings it gets me more than makes up for it though, and I like being able to see at a glance what I have.

Will you organize me now? You would seriously laugh if you saw my system. I use a portable expanding file with tabs similar to yours. Since it’s as deep as a file folder I had to use file folders to make homemade separate “pull out”….umm…thingys. See, I told you…

I’m thinking about going to the insert method and logging coupons, inserts and expiration dates in a spreadsheet with filters…. it all seems like a lot of work…

By the way, don’t you love the looks on people’s faces when you walk in with an organizer full of coupons. :)
