IMG_0338 Imagine grabbing a cup of your favorite Starbucks coffee and relaxing in a comfy leather couch – or sitting down to read a new book/magazine in a library, all while your car is being washed outside… Ah, relaxation.

Not exactly what you picture for a grocery store is it? But now it can be…

I had the privilege to tour the new Fry’s Marketplace at Tatum & Shea (AZ) before it opened to the public and I was blown away by the luxuries throughout the store, including these outside amenities: Covered Parking, Valet Parking, Outdoor Security System in Parking Lot, Car Wash, Drive-Thru Pharmacy.

IMG_0318 And inside- wow, it is gorgeous!  It is beautifully decorated with large aisles and plenty of shopping space, along with amenities not found in other stores (listed below).

I also met Jon Flora, the President of Fry’s (pictured left) and heard how this store is “his baby,” which meant he spent careful hours (and money) trying to ensure a successful store.

Some of the other incredible pluses in this store include a Fry’s Fresh Attractions Cooking School, staffed by 2 of the Valley’s finest chefs. You’ll be able to attend classes on how to make everything from cakes to full course meals. Plus, they will be offering children’s cooking classes on Saturdays. IMG_0319

Other features include:

  • Tortillaria with fresh flour tortillas!
  • A sushi bar
  • Signature Bistro with fresh prepared meals
  • A wine cellar and bar with over 1600 varieties of wine (the cellar is over 400 sq feet)
  • A large Kosher department (check out Saving For Someday for a list of Kosher Deals)
  • Fresh Seafood (flown fresh daily) and beef, with grilling stations
  • Salad Bar, Olive Bar, and Soup Bar
  • A Dessert Shop with more than 300 incredibly irresistible selections, including a cupcake bar and chocolate dipping station!

  • Starbucks & Organic Juice Bar
  • Fred Meyer Jewelers (yes, you can even buy diamonds at Fry’s!)
  • Customized FTD Floral arrangements
  • Home good section with furniture, electronics, and everything else for your home
  • And my favorite, the Nature’s Market with a large selection of organic (and gluten free) items, along with the Organic Produce section IMG_0349

I had a blast going behind the scenes at Fry’s with other bloggers from around Arizona and learning more about the amazing extras this Fry’s has – AND the best part is to know that the store is still Fry’s, so sales and coupon policies are the same at this store.

You can also check out this video of some of our thoughts while on the tour Tuesday: (click HERE if  you can’t see the video)

So why do I love Fry’s?

  • All coupons are worth $1. That means that you can save a bunch when you clip coupons each week. Plus, this isn’t a one time occurrence, this is their current policy.
  • They take competitor coupons! Yes, they take coupons from other grocery stores, including Fresh & Easy and Target (I verified with the President of Fry’s, John Flora, on that one!).
  • Amazing sales on a regular basis which allow me to save even if I’m not using coupons.
  • Now I can shop with covered parking, find a great selection of organic products, get a smoothie, fresh tortillas, and only drive to one location!

Whole Foods: Grass-Fed Beef $3.99 lb (9/3)

by Melissa on September 2, 2010

in Organic, Whole Foods

image

Whole Foods is celebrating Labor Day weekend with a sale on Grass-Fed Beef on Friday, 9/3/10, for only $3.99 lb. This is a great price to stock up on since it normally runs around $7.99 lb.

What are the benefits to grass-fed beef?

  • Grass-fed beef ranching is not only good for the animals, but involves managing natural resources and supporting local producers.
  • Grass-fed beef is a leaner choice and has a more favorable ratio of omega fatty acids.
  • Grass-fed beef is priced fairly for the producer and is worth every penny.
  • Grass-fed beef is a delicious alternative to grain-fed beef and cooks a little differently.

You can find out more information on the sale, recipes, and more HERE.
